SaaS Retention Calculator
Measure how well your recurring revenue holds up over a year, and whether your acquisition spend pays back.
How to use it
- Enter your starting monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and the expansion, downgrade and churned MRR over 12 months.
- Enter the number of customers you started with, how many churned, and your acquisition spend and new customers over the same period.
- Enter average monthly revenue per customer and gross margin. Review the ratings, which are rough guides rather than targets.
Questions
What is net revenue retention?
Net revenue retention (NRR) is the revenue you keep from existing customers, including expansion, after downgrades and churn. Above 100% means existing customers grow your revenue on their own.
How is gross revenue retention different?
Gross revenue retention (GRR) ignores expansion and only counts what you keep after downgrades and churn. It can never exceed 100%.
Why does LTV show a dash?
Lifetime value depends on churn. If no customers churned, the implied lifetime is infinite, so the calculator does not show a number.
